The work Dome is a further development of the site-specific installation Look and Cry (2022), for which I applied 1650 onion petals in the form of a panoptic eye to a studio window at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts at the start of the war in Ukraine. The onion petals are enclosed in the dome like a protective cocoon, preserving the fleeting essence of physical and emotional experience in a time of upheaval.
The word 'dome' carries layered meanings, resonating with the concepts of home and house in Russian (дом). Beyond the visual, the olfactory presence of the onions adds another sensory layer to the work, inviting the viewer to engage.
